If they had included a butterfly-style adapter that didn't pop out, instead attaching it to the back of the knob with a screw, allowing for the knob to be installed and temperature checked before adjusting the readings, it might have been more effective. Unfortunately, I'll need to visit a used parts store to look for an alternative. I expect this one to last only about a week. Another issue is that if you place the stick-on temperature dial on the face and later discover the reading is incorrect, there's no way to correct it. If you've hammered it in, thinking it will fit tightly (after figuring out that it must be installed in only one orientation), it will pop off and fly across the room! Not only did I need to use a leather tool to make the hole correct in the center, but I also had to apply ABS glue to secure the adapter to the knob. Additionally, there's no way to hold the adapter to the knob while putting it into place, as it tends to pop off. As a result, you'll likely need to shave down one of the adapters to ensure a proper fit. It's unfortunate that the manufacturer doesn't show customers that the adapters only fit half-moon stems of various sizes (with only one common size) and neglects to provide an adapter for butterfly-style stems like mine.
